Disney has partnered with Amazon to create “Hey Disney,” a voice assistant for guests staying in rooms at Walt Disney World Resorts.
The device is based on Amazon’s Echo Show 5 smart displays and is equipped with the Disney-branded version of Alexa, complete with Mickey Mouse ears. It will allow guests to access Alexa services and features the voices of more than 25 Disney characters. Guests can use the devices to access content, including interactive Disney storytelling experiences, and perform everyday tasks, such as setting timers and alarms, checking the weather, requesting amenities, asking for directions or park events, and engaging in other interactive activities.
Hey, Disney is entirely opt-in for hotel guests and is muted when guests enter their rooms. It only becomes active after being manually unmuted.
The devices are being tested in a limited number of rooms before rolling out across all rooms at all resort properties.
