Salesforce, the global leader in CRM, announced that for the fourth consecutive year, Salesforce has been named a Leader by Gartner Inc. in its 2019 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce.
“Brands need an AI-first commerce platform to deliver the premium digital commerce experience that the market demands,” said Mike Micucci, CEO, Salesforce Commerce Cloud. “With Salesforce Commerce Cloud, our customers are armed with the intelligence, tools and ecosystem they need to drive revenue and scale globally successfully.”
Gartner defines a digital commerce platform as “the core technology enabling customers to purchase goods and services through an interactive and self-service experience. The platform provides necessary information for customers to make their buy decisions and uses rules and data to present fully priced orders for payment. The platform must have the out-of-the-box capability or the APIs to support a self-service, interactive commerce experience that includes: storefront, product catalogue navigation, product pages, shopping cart, check-out, customer account. The commerce product must support, out of the box, the ability to search for a product, add products to a cart, and fully price an order inclusive of product, customer- and order-level discounts or promotions. The commerce product must support interoperability with customer, product, content, and order functionality and data via APIs.”

Earlier this month, Salesforce had announced that Gartner, Inc. positioned the company as a Leader in its 2019 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms.
“Today’s leading CIOs not only keep up with business needs but see around corners to leverage new technologies as engines for growth,” said Sarah Franklin, EVP and GM of Platform, Salesforce. “With the majority of IT leaders ready to supercharge productivity using low-code, Salesforce is proud to offer trailblazing CIOs the industry’s leading point-and-click app dev tools while leveraging Trailhead, our free online learning platform, to skill up employees, so they’re ready to harness those tools.”
According to Gartner, “A low-code application platform (LCAP) is an application platform that supports rapid application development, one-step deployment, execution and management using declarative, high-level programming abstractions, such as model-driven and metadata-based programming languages. They support the development of user interfaces, business logic and data services, and improve productivity at the expense of portability across vendors, as compared with conventional application platforms.”
Salesforce Lightning comprises an intuitive user experience, a component-based programming model for building custom experiences, and an ecosystem of apps and components available on the AppExchange.
